About Us
Who We Are
A unique flock at Urdaibai

We are pioneers in Spain in the breeding and reproduction of the black-nosed Valais sheep, a breed native to the Swiss canton of Valais. Located in Ajangiz, a spectacular spot in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve (Bizkaia), we have been working since 2021 to breed a selective flock of 60 animals, carefully cared for to the highest standards of quality and sustainability. However, our history goes back to 1998, when we began caring for sheep of the Latxa and Carranzana breeds.

The careful selection of our flock's genetic profiles, combined with a high degree of rotation between the different pastures that make up Martutxu, regular veterinary attention and a careful diet (made up of high-quality pasture, forage and feed) guarantee the health, well-being and optimal development of our animals. This commitment to quality and sustainability enables us to offer exceptional ewes, ideal both for breeding and for the genetic improvement of other flocks, always respecting the natural environment that surrounds us.

Excellence in the breeding of the black-nosed Valais sheep

At Martutxu, we understand black-nosed Valais sheep breeding as more than just a livestock activity: it is a responsibility to the environment and to quality.

Our Valais sheep are companion animals, raised with care, love and attention. They are not destined for consumption or for farms where they do not receive adequate attention. Only for those who value their special character and well-being.

We work every day to preserve and promote a unique breed, combining traditional methods with sustainable innovations that guarantee animal welfare and environmental protection. We are proud to contribute to livestock genetic diversity and to rural sustainability, betting on responsible practices that respect both the animals and the surrounding ecosystem.

Choosing us means trusting in a project that puts excellence, sustainability and a passion for authenticity at its core.
